Bad dirt out. Good dirt in.

posted Aug 29, 2013, 9:11 AM by David Stuart
For the past several Saturdays the block association has been removing rocks, sand and construction debris from our newly-enlarged tree beds, and replacing with high grade NYC Sanitation Dept compost. The improved soil will nourish our street trees and allow us to plant gardens in those tree beds. Just to give you an idea of the scope of the work, so far we have removed THREE TONS of bad dirt and added over 7,000 pounds of compost. All of this work has been done by hand, one shovelful at a time, by people like you--neighbors volunteering their time & sweat to make W 45th St. a beautiful place to live.
